- What is Mobile Payment Acceptance? Mobile Payment Acceptance is a smartphone payment application that enables you to accept and process card payments anywhere your business takes you.
- How does Mobile Payment Acceptance work? The payment application is downloaded to your smartphone from the AppStoreSM, BlackBerry App World™, Android Market and Amazon Appstore using your wireless data plan. Once the application is installed, you can accept card payments by either entering information manually or with a configured card reader and receipt printer. The data is securely transmitted over the Internet to your payment processor.
- What credit cards are accepted? All major credit cards are accepted, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Diner's Club and JCB.
- Are debit cards accepted? Signature debit is accepted; however, PIN-Debit is not supported.
- What transactions types are supported by Mobile Payment Acceptance? In addition to payments, Mobile Payment Acceptance supports voids and returns.
- How long does it take to process a payment? A typical transaction will take a few seconds to complete but varies depending on location and strength of wireless signal.
- What happens if the service goes down during a transaction? The transaction request is canceled and an error message is generated. You will need to process a new transaction.
- Is a customer signature required for payment? No, Mobile Payment Acceptance supports the option to print or e-mail the receipt. An all-in-one card reader and printer combo is available for printing on supported devices.
- How secure is processing payments on my phone? The process is very secure. When processing the card, the information is encrypted by the card reader and sent to the processor's secure network where the information is stored. Information is not stored on the phone. Mobile Payment Acceptance uses an https connection over SSL (Secure Socket Layer) at 128-bit encryption.
- What if I lose my phone? You and your customers will be safe and secure. A unique user name and password are required to access the application, and no credit card information is ever stored on your phone. Your customers′ payment information is safely stored on a secure server. In addition to deactivating the phone, the device's Mobile Payment Acceptance login can be deactivated.
- Do Mobile Payment Acceptance charges get billed onto my phone plan? No, Mobile Payment Acceptance charges will be billed to you on a separate invoice. The cell phone service provider will bill for their services.
- Where can I see all my Mobile Payment Acceptance transactions? You can access full transaction reporting through the online Merchant Center and access a "quick view" of the last 50 transactions directly on your smartphone.
- What if I have multiple employees that need to use Mobile Payment Acceptance? There is no limit to the number of employees who can be granted permission to process transactions with Mobile Payment Acceptance. Each employee will be assigned a unique ID and password to access the applications. If your business requires more than one shift, your employees can share a smartphone, as long as they use their own ID and password.
- Can I use my own mobile phone and service plan? If you have one of the Mobile Payment Acceptance-supported smartphones, you can use your own. To view a list of supported phones, please visit our Supported Phones page. Mobile Payment Acceptance is compatible with all U.S. wireless providers, but you will need a data plan to download and use the application. Your wireless provider can provide you with information on their data plans.
- What handsets are supported? The list of Mobile Payment Acceptance-supported phones is long. Visit our Supported Phones page for a complete listing.
- Is there additional hardware to purchase with Mobile Payment Acceptance? No additional equipment is required. An optional card reader and printer combo is available for printing on supported smartphones. While not required, the peripheral will provide the opportunity to qualify for the best interchange rate.
